Gameday Garbage Bread – Buffalo Chicken and BBQ Chicken Recipes

Garbage Bread

I absolutely adore football food.  I know that starting in September and going through January that each and every Sunday I get to eat artery clogging, taste bud exploding, greasy and delicious foods.  It is just a given in my family, something that goes hand in hand.  Football is on and therefore we get to enjoy foods that we wouldn’t otherwise eat.  And this garbage bread is all of the above.  It is so outrageously and dangerously yummy that it is saved for special game days in my home so we don’t have to spend all day every day in the gym working it off.  Garbage bread is like a mix between a pizza, calzone and Stromboli and you can essentially fill it with whatever strikes your fancy.  My hubs and I just happen to love buffalo chicken and barbeque chicken so we tend to gravitate towards those.  If something else makes your heart pitter patter, by all means, feel free to experiment.  The great part about this is that it would be awfully hard to screw up.  Everything tastes good when doused in sauce, cheese and bread!

A tasty mix between a pizza, calzone and Stromboli filled with your choice of buffalo chicken and ranch dressing or BBQ sauce and chicken
Author:
Ingredients
  • Buffalo Chicken:
  • 1 pizza dough (I tend to use a refrigerated dough - 1 can)
  • ¾ cup ranch dressing (could also use blue cheese)
  • 1 cup shredded chicken
  • ½ cup buffalo chicken sauce (I use Franks)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • BBQ Chicken:
  • 1 pizza dough (I tend to use a refrigerated dough - 1 can)
  • ¾ cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 cup shredded chicken, flavored to taste
  • ½ - 1 red onion, chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • optional: chopped peppers, sausage crumbles, minced garlic
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 325*
  2. Buffalo Chicken:
  3. Coat shredded chicken in buffalo sauce and set aside. Lay dough flat on a non stick sprayed baking sheet and put ranch dressing on top. Spread evenly over the dough making sure to reach all edges. Evenly distribute cheese over the dough and then repeat with the chicken.
  4. Roll the dough up onto itself (make sure that you roll from the long side, otherwise it will not cook as well) and pinch together at the seam.
  5. BBQ Chicken:
  6. Lay dough flat on a non stick sprayed baking sheet and put BBQ sauce on top. Spread evenly over the dough making sure to reach all edges. Evenly distribute cheese over the dough and then repeat with the chicken, onions and optional toppings.
  7. Roll the dough up onto itself (make sure that you roll from the long side, otherwise it will not cook as well) and pinch together at the seam.
  8. Cook for 25 to 30 minutes or until all layers or dough are cooked through.

This is not one of those foods that you can daintily eat, this is one that requires a plate.  But it is so worth the extra dishes to wash!  If you are looking for a game day food to please the masses, this is it!
